DP World has strengthened its logistics capabilities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) by acquiring 700 new trucks, significantly expanding its road freight network to provide customers with greater reliability, efficiency and end-to-end supply chain solutions across the region.

The investment forms part of the company’s long-term strategy to build an integrated multimodal logistics network connecting ports, terminals, economic zones and digital platforms, enabling seamless cargo movement from origin to destination.

Commenting on the expansion, Ahmad Yousef Al-Hassan, CEO and Managing Director, DP World GCC, said the investment reflects the company’s commitment to supporting regional trade growth.

“This is a long-term investment in our multimodal network and the customers that trade in the GCC. As regional demand grows, we are scaling our capabilities to provide customers with an integrated network they can depend on at every stage,” he said.

The expanded fleet is expected to facilitate up to 35,000 truck trips per month, supporting both domestic and cross-border transportation across the GCC. The trucks will handle first-, middle- and last-mile logistics requirements for containerised as well as non-containerised cargo, enhancing supply chain connectivity throughout the region.

According to Raveen Guliani, COO – Logistics, DP World GCC, the investment addresses growing customer demand for dependable and sustainable logistics solutions.

“Our customers want certainty, reliability, efficiency and more sustainable supply chain solutions. The capability to move goods, containers, vehicles and perishables across our connected network of warehouses and ports provides exactly that. These new trucks are fuel-efficient and meet the Euro V emissions standard and we will explore green-energy vehicles in the future,” Guliani said.

The trucks are being deployed in phases and will complement DP World’s existing transport operations, which currently manage around 3,000 truck movements daily across the GCC.

The fleet expansion follows several recent initiatives by DP World to enhance regional connectivity, including the launch of fast-track bonded corridors linking east coast gateways directly to Jebel Ali Port, the establishment of a bonded corridor from Sohar, Oman, and the use of overland routes through Jeddah Islamic Port’s South Container Terminal. These measures have enabled the movement of more than 350,000 TEUs overland in response to disruptions affecting maritime trade.

With the addition of the new fleet, DP World aims to provide customers with a larger, faster and more flexible land freight network while strengthening the resilience and efficiency of logistics operations across the GCC.
