DP World has unveiled a new weekly maritime service between Dubai and Iraq, marking a significant boost to regional connectivity and logistics efficiency. The launch was announced as the company officially welcomed the DP World Express to its fleet, a milestone celebrated by Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO & Managing Director of DP World GCC, alongside His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, and His Excellency Dr. Mudhafar Al-Jbori, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq.
The new service will operate between Mina Rashid in Dubai and Umm Qasr Port in Iraq, offering a 36-hour transit time and capacity to transport up to 145 accompanied trailers per sailing. With drivers travelling on board for the entire journey, the service is designed to provide a seamless, end-to-end logistics solution.
DP World said the initiative directly addresses customer demand for quicker cargo movement, reduced costs, and improved reliability. The maritime link is expected to significantly cut the time and complexity associated with overland routes, which typically take more than 10 days to reach Iraq.
Describing the project as a shared vision shaped through close coordination with partners, customers, and Iraqi port and customs authorities, Bin Damithan said the service reinforces DP World’s commitment to making trade “faster, safer and easier.” He added that the DP World Express will play an important role in strengthening resilient trade corridors across the region.
