FedEx has appointed Kenya Airways as its ground handling partner in Nairobi, strengthening its operational footprint in East Africa and improving cargo handling efficiency at one of the region’s key aviation hubs.

Under the arrangement, Kenya Airways will manage FedEx’s ground operations, including cargo processing, ramp services, and logistical coordination at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The partnership is expected to enhance service reliability and streamline transit times for international shipments moving through the hub.

Industry stakeholders said the collaboration reflects FedEx’s strategy of leveraging established local carriers to optimise ground operations and expand network efficiency in high-growth African markets. Nairobi serves as a critical gateway for regional and intercontinental cargo flows, particularly for express and time-sensitive shipments.

Aviation and logistics experts noted that the partnership could improve connectivity across East and Central Africa, while also supporting Kenya Airways’ growing role in the global air cargo ecosystem. The move is expected to strengthen supply chain performance amid rising demand for express logistics services in the region.
