Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) Project Logistics has successfully completed its first loading operation at the Port of Hamburg.
The subsidiary of HHLA, which typically specialises on project cargoes in Asia, was able to rely on the HHLA Group’s knowledge and network for its first order in Germany.
It collaborated closely with the HHLA firm, UNIKAI Lagerei- und Speditionsgesellschaft.
The large load included six passenger train cars, each 17 to 22 metres long and weighing between 20 and 47 tonnes, as well as the related bogies.
The wagons were manufactured in China and carried to Hamburg by ocean-going vessel.
The wagons were loaded at the Wallmann & Co terminal and transported via inland waterway craft to O’Swaldkai, HHLA’s universal freight terminal.
HHLA’s subsidiary UNIKAI took over management at O’Swaldkai. After customs formalities were completed, the wagons were put on the terminal’s rail track and assembled for train transfer to the Czech Republic.

In December 2024, HHLA’s Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) received three new highly automated container gantry cranes.
