IKEA has expanded in North India as it opens its first fully outsourced Central Distribution Centre (CDC) in collaboration with global logistics provider Rhenus, the company said in a media release.

The 180,000 sqft facility in Farrukh-Nagar, Gurugram, will be used to streamline storage, fulfillment, and last-mile delivery while reinforcing IKEA’s commitment to sustainability and customer-centric logistics, the company said.

With a storage capacity of 12,000 m³, the CDC will allow IKEA to fulfill most orders within 24 hours, significantly enhancing delivery speed and efficiency for customers in the Delhi NCR region and future northern markets.

Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager, IKEA India said, “We at IKEA are thrilled to finally begin our North India journey. The Customer Distribution Center (CDC) will enable us to serve more people with our beautiful home furnishings products and solutions. This is a movement towards a future where speed, sustainability, and accessibility define the IKEA experience in North India. With close to 100% EV deliveries, we are setting a new industry benchmark as a responsible retailer.”

The CDC will employ around 150 personnel, offering inclusive workplace facilities, including healthcare support, emergency-ready infrastructure, a cafeteria, and a training hall.

IKEA and Rhenus also plan to provide employment opportunities for specially-abled individuals, reinforcing their commitment to diversity and inclusion.
