Marking the commencement of preferential trade under the India–United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), in association with the Office of the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Regional Authority, Delhi, organised a ceremonial flag-off of the first export consignment under the agreement at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Air Cargo Complex, New Delhi.

The inaugural shipment, comprising orthopedic and fracture appliances, was dispatched to Sheffield, United Kingdom, through DHL, symbolising the operational launch of the landmark trade pact.

With the India–UK CETA coming into force on 15 July 2026, eligible Indian exports can now enter the UK market at zero customs duty, subject to compliance with the agreement’s Rules of Origin and other prescribed conditions.

The flag-off ceremony marks a significant milestone in India’s export journey, paving the way for enhanced market access, improved competitiveness of Indian products in the UK, and stronger bilateral trade ties between the two countries.

Industry stakeholders noted that the implementation of the CETA is expected to provide substantial opportunities for Indian exporters across multiple sectors by reducing tariff barriers, facilitating smoother trade, and encouraging greater participation in the UK market. The agreement is also expected to boost export growth, strengthen supply chain integration, and deepen economic cooperation between India and the United Kingdom.
