Air cargo operations from Cochin International Airport are experiencing delays due to escalating tensions in West Asia, which have disrupted key flight routes and affected the movement of goods. Exporters report that shipments bound for Gulf countries are facing extended transit times, leading to logistical challenges and increased costs.

Industry sources said that cargo carriers are rerouting flights to avoid conflict zones, while some schedules have been temporarily suspended for safety reasons. The disruptions are particularly impacting time-sensitive shipments such as perishables, pharmaceuticals, and high-value electronics.

Airport authorities and airlines are working to minimize the impact by optimizing alternative routes and coordinating with freight forwarders. Government officials are also monitoring the situation closely to ensure that trade flows are maintained wherever possible.

Analysts warn that if tensions persist, further delays and higher shipping costs could affect India’s export competitiveness in the Gulf region. Exporters are advised to plan shipments carefully and consider insurance and contingency measures to mitigate risks arising from geopolitical uncertainties.
