Mammoth Freighters has delivered its first Boeing 777-200LRMF passenger-to-freighter conversion to Texas-based aircraft lessor Jetran, marking a major milestone in the company’s widebody freighter programme.

The aircraft is the first production example of Mammoth’s 777-200LRMF, which received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification earlier this year. The certification cleared the converted aircraft for commercial service and validated its design, engineering and performance.

Jetran is the launch customer for the 777-200LRMF programme. The lessor has an agreement to provide five converted freighters to Qatar Airways Cargo, which is expected to become the aircraft’s first end user.

The 777-200LRMF is designed to offer operators a long-range widebody freighter option by converting used passenger aircraft into cargo aircraft. The programme gives airlines and lessors an alternative to acquiring new-build freighters at a time when demand for large cargo aircraft remains strong.

Mammoth’s first converted aircraft was originally a passenger-configured Boeing 777-200LR. The conversion programme includes installation of a large main-deck cargo door, reinforcement of the aircraft structure and modification of the interior to accommodate palletised and containerised freight.

The first aircraft, registered N705DN, completed its initial test flight in May 2025. Following an extensive flight-test and certification programme, Mammoth secured FAA approval for the 777-200LRMF earlier this year.

The delivery to Jetran represents an important step towards commercial deployment of the aircraft. Qatar Airways Cargo is expected to operate the first aircraft under its agreement with Jetran, adding the converted 777-200LRMF to its existing widebody freighter fleet.

The programme has also attracted interest from other major cargo operators. DHL and Ethiopian Airlines are among the customers expected to receive 777-200LRMF aircraft in the future, highlighting the potential market for converted 777 widebody freighters.

For Mammoth, the delivery marks the transition of the 777-200LRMF from development and certification into commercial operations. It also strengthens the company’s position in the growing passenger-to-freighter conversion market, where operators are seeking additional cargo capacity amid continuing growth in global airfreight demand.

The first Jetran delivery is expected to pave the way for further 777-200LRMF deliveries and expand the availability of long-range converted freighter capacity for international cargo networks.
