Amid the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to ongoing geopolitical tensions, vessels carrying Far East-origin cargoes bound for Middle Eastern destinations are being diverted to India, with Kandla Port emerging as a critical transshipment hub.
In response to this evolving situation, Deugro Projects (India) Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Mystic Shipping Private Limited (MSPL), has demonstrated agility and operational excellence by ensuring uninterrupted cargo movement for its Middle East customers. Leveraging their expertise, the companies successfully proposed and executed transshipment solutions at Kandla through their trusted local network.
Under this strategic initiative, multiple vessels have been scheduled for transshipment operations at Kandla, enabling efficient handling of project cargoes destined for the Middle East. This proactive approach underscores Deugro’s commitment to minimizing supply chain disruptions and delivering reliable, alternative logistics solutions during times of uncertainty.
Marking a significant milestone, Deugro Projects (India) Pvt. Ltd. and Mystic Shipping Private Limited have become the first companies to successfully handle transshipment operations of break-bulk and over-dimensional cargo (ODC) at Kandla under such arrangements.
The vessel MV BBC Hudson arrived at Kandla at 1530 hours on March 9, 2026, and berthed at Berth No. 15A at 2230 hours on March 12, 2026. Discharge operations commenced at 0100 hours on March 13 and were completed by 0900 hours on March 14. A total of 644.62 metric tonnes of project cargo, comprising 55 packages, was handled with precision and efficiency.
A key highlight of the operation was the seamless handling of a single 101 MT over-dimensional cargo package through tandem lifting operations—demonstrating MSPL’s meticulous planning, technical capability, and commitment to safety in executing complex port operations.
This landmark operation reinforces India’s growing role as a strategic logistics hub, offering resilient and dependable alternatives for global trade flows during periods of disruption. By pioneering this initiative, Mystic Shipping and Deugro Projects have not only mitigated potential delays for their clients but have also set new benchmarks for operational excellence at Kandla.
The companies extend their sincere appreciation to the Deendayal Port Authority and Customs authorities for their invaluable support in documentation and operational coordination. Special acknowledgment is given to Mr. Sushil Kumar Singh (Chairman), Mr. Nilabhra Dasgupta (Deputy Chairman), and Mr. B. Ratna Sekhar Rao (Traffic Manager) for their leadership and cooperation in facilitating this achievement.
