    At least nine wagons carrying 12 containers of a freight train heading Delhi derailed near the Amroha railway station on Saturday evening.

    No one was injured in the accident that comes three days after 19 coaches of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express (15904) derailed in the Gonda district, killing four passengers and injuring 30.

    Moradabad Division’s Senior Deputy Commercial Manager (Sr DCM) Aditya Gupta said, “Total nine wagons with 12 containers on them detailed just after crossing the Amroha railway station around 7 pm”.

    He said that no one was injured in the accident.

    The accident happened at Amroha Yard on the Ghaziabad-Moradabad section, disrupting train movement on the route.

    “Trains on the Moradabad-Ghaziabad route have been diverted via Ghaziabad, Meerut, Saharanpur, Hapur and Gajraula. The second alternative route Aligarh- Tundla – Kanpur is also operational and trains are being diverted via that section,” Gupta said.

    According to railway, the freight train was coming from Uttarakhand and was headed for Delhi. Contents of the containers got derailed are not known.

    Work to restore movement of trains on the section is underway and is expected to be completed by Sunday morning, CPRO Northern Railway said.
