A major milestone has been achieved at Port Botany as the container vessel OOCL BRAZIL completed the largest container exchange ever recorded at the DP World terminal during her recent call in Sydney.

The vessel handled an impressive 10,746 TEUs during the port call, surpassing the previous record of 9,487 TEUs set in 2020 and establishing a new benchmark for operational performance at one of Australia’s busiest trade gateways.

The achievement highlights the growing scale and efficiency of container operations at Port Botany and reflects the coordinated efforts of the entire maritime and logistics ecosystem. Successful handling of cargo volumes of this magnitude required seamless collaboration between terminal operators, vessel crew, pilots, planners, shipping lines and landside transport partners.

Industry stakeholders noted that such milestones are not driven by berth productivity alone, but by synchronized execution across multiple operational disciplines. From vessel planning and navigation to terminal handling and hinterland connectivity, every stage played a critical role in ensuring smooth and efficient cargo exchange operations.

Built in 2010, OOCL BRAZIL has remained under continuous management by Synergy Marine Group since delivery. The long-term management continuity has contributed to strong operational familiarity with the vessel, enhanced maintenance standards and consistent reliability in service performance.

Special recognition was extended to Capt. Dharam G. Chetri, Chief Engineer M.H. Khudus and the entire onboard crew for their professionalism and commitment to safe and efficient vessel operations. Their efforts were instrumental in achieving the record-setting exchange while maintaining schedule reliability for customers and charterers.

Appreciation was also conveyed to NSW Ports, DP World at Port Botany and all operational partners involved in the milestone port call.

The achievement further reinforces Port Botany’s importance in Australia’s container trade network and demonstrates the increasing capability of modern port and shipping operations to handle large-scale cargo movements with precision and efficiency.
