The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has introduced a series of relief measures to support cargo bound for West Asia, as ongoing regional disruptions continue to impact shipping operations.

The port authority said the measures are aimed at easing the financial and operational burden on exporters facing delays, rerouting, and rising logistics costs. These include concessions on storage charges, extended free time for containers, and facilitation of faster cargo handling processes.

Officials noted that the initiative is designed to ensure smoother movement of goods and minimize the impact of supply chain disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions in key maritime corridors.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the move, stating that such support is critical in maintaining export competitiveness during periods of uncertainty. The relief measures are expected to benefit sectors heavily reliant on West Asian markets, including food products, chemicals, and engineering goods.

The port is also enhancing coordination with shipping lines and logistics providers to manage cargo flows more efficiently and avoid congestion within the terminal.

The development reflects a broader effort by Indian ports to support trade continuity and provide flexibility to exporters navigating challenging global conditions.
