Tajikistan is keen on the efficient use of Iran’s ports of Bandar Abbas and Chabahar’s capacity for goods and transportation, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said at a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran.

During discussions, both sides acknowledged the significance of the visa regime’s elimination for reciprocal travel of up to 30 days and voiced their belief that this move will boost tourism and deepen ties between their peoples.

The five-fold increase in trade turnover in recent years was acknowledged as clear as day, showing the tip of the iceberg in the great potential in trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Moreover, underlined was the need for the Joint Intergovernmental Commission’s work to be strengthened and the efficient use of the Joint Investment Committee and the Joint Council of Entrepreneurs of the two nations.

Furthermore, the heads of state showed keenness to explore new horizons of collaboration in the water and energy, oil, and gas sectors, as well as in the realm of nanotechnology, and to draw in investments in these areas.

Rahmon extended an invitation to Pezeshkian to conduct an official visit to Tajikistan at his earliest convenience.

To note, Emomali Rahmon touched down in Tehran on July 30 to be part of the swearing-in of the freshly elected Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian.
