Transworld Group, a significant Global Shipping & Logistics Solution conglomerate headquartered in India, recently released its sustainability report (SR) for fiscal year 2022-2023, titled “Leading by Values, Built on Trust.” This is the company’s second sustainability report (SR), which offers details on its efforts in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) spheres.
The sustainability report, which complies with GRI and SASB standards, matches the company’s significant concerns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. The paper introduces ESG Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) using a balanced scorecard and a sustainability survey for vendors, highlighting important actions. Compared to the prior financial year, the Group reports a noteworthy 6.45 per cent drop in Scope 1 Emission intensity and a 5.4 per cent decrease in energy usage. By 2043, the corporation hopes to be carbon neutral, and it will measure each vessel’s Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).
The Group aims to empower a minimum of 2,50,000 persons during the course of the next five years (2023–2027) by means of volunteering activities and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. The management of the maritime environment, health, food, and water security, the arts, education, civic engagement, and gender diversity and equity will all be major focuses of these programmes.
Ramesh S. Ramakrishnan, Chairman of Transworld Group, said that the second Sustainability Report thoroughly assesses progress in critical metrics like greenhouse gas emissions, workforce diversity, community participation, and governance structures. One important step toward understanding value chain participants’ sustainability journeys, he added, is the completion of Vendor Sustainability Surveys. The dedication to implementing sustainability principles across the network as a whole is reflected in this endeavour.
