The Port of Oakland reported stronger cargo throughput as a rise in vessel calls helped lift container volumes, signaling improving trade momentum at one of the US West Coast’s key gateways. Increased shipping activity supported both import and export flows during the latest reporting period.

Port officials said additional vessel arrivals and improved schedule reliability contributed to higher terminal productivity and smoother cargo movement. The gains come as carriers continue adjusting service networks and shippers seek efficient alternatives across Pacific trade routes.

Oakland’s performance was also supported by resilient agricultural exports and steady inbound consumer goods demand. The port remains a critical hub for refrigerated cargo, food products and other high-value exports moving to Asian markets.

Authorities noted that ongoing investments in terminal modernization, truck flow improvements and sustainability initiatives are helping strengthen competitiveness. With vessel calls recovering, the Port of Oakland expects continued momentum as supply chains stabilize and peak shipping season approaches.
