V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VoCPA) has recorded a significant 43.86% year-on-year growth in the handling of Potassium Sulphate (MOP/SOP) cargo during the April–June quarter of FY 2026–27, compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
The impressive growth highlights the Port’s continued focus on operational efficiency, faster cargo evacuation, and strengthening India’s agricultural supply chain by ensuring the timely movement of essential fertiliser cargo.
Potassium Sulphate, including Muriate of Potash (MOP) and Sulphate of Potash (SOP), is a critical agricultural input that supports crop productivity across the country. The increase in cargo volumes reflects rising demand as well as the Port’s ability to efficiently handle bulk fertiliser shipments through streamlined logistics and improved cargo management.
The achievement further reinforces V.O. Chidambaranar Port’s strategic role as a key maritime gateway for South India, serving the agricultural, industrial and EXIM sectors. By continuously enhancing cargo handling capabilities and operational excellence, the Port is contributing to the seamless availability of vital agri-inputs while supporting India’s food security and logistics ecosystem.
The sustained growth in fertiliser cargo handling underscores VoCPA’s commitment to providing world-class port services and strengthening supply chain resilience for the nation’s agriculture sector.
