Walmart Cross Border has announced its expansion into Vietnam, enabling sellers to ship inventory from the country to the retailer’s U.S. facilities ahead of the crucial holiday shopping period.

The move comes as higher U.S. tariffs and shifting trade policies push importers to diversify sourcing beyond China. Vietnam has emerged as a strong alternative, with brands such as HP and Boot Barn increasing procurement from the country to reduce dependence on Chinese manufacturing.

Walmart said the Vietnam integration will streamline merchandise movement from manufacturing hubs to end customers through its supply chain services. The expansion positions the retailer to compete more directly with Amazon Global Logistics, which offers sellers direct ocean freight shipping from China to facilities in the U.S., U.K. and EU.

To further attract sellers, Walmart is rolling out a set of incentives for Q4 2025. These include waiving peak season storage fees for Walmart Fulfillment Services between October and December 31, removing the usual $1.50 per cubic foot monthly surcharge for items stored over 30 days. The retailer will also offer a 30% discount through October 1 on its Multichannel Solutions service, which supports order fulfillment from multiple sales platforms, including Walmart.com, Amazon, Shein and Temu.

Walmart said the measures will help sellers prepare for the anticipated year-end demand surge without incurring additional storage costs.
