The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has announced that seven commercial companies have been selected for importing 90,000 metric tons of wheat from India for trade purposes.
The DoCSCP stated that out of 59 commercial companies that applied for wheat import, seven companies have been selected. These companies have been selected to import 90,000 metric tons of wheat from India, out of the 200 metric tons that India will provide to Nepal under the quota system.
The selected companies include Bishal Trade Link in Kathmandu; Shyambaba Enterprises in Kuleshwor and Gunjeshwari Trade Link Pvt Ltd. Similarly, the others include Josh Nepal Traders in Birgunj; Mansa International in Kailali and Durga Brothers Concern and Gyan Enterprises in Dillibazar, Kathmandu.
Each of the selected companies will be allowed to import wheat at a rate of 3,000 tons. The companies must complete the import within three months from the date they receive the quota from India’s National Cooperative Exports Limited. If a company is unable to import the wheat, it must inform the department within 15 days from the date of receiving the authorization.
