A.P. Moller–Maersk has announced an increase in the peak season surcharge (PSS) for container shipments on the Far East–East Africa trade lane, citing prevailing market conditions.

The revised surcharge will apply to dry and refrigerated cargo moving from key Far East origins to ports across East Africa, effective from the notified date, subject to local regulations. Maersk said the adjustment reflects seasonal demand pressures and capacity dynamics on the route.

Industry sources noted that the Far East–East Africa corridor typically sees higher volumes during peak shipping periods, prompting carriers to review surcharges to manage demand and maintain service reliability.

Shippers and freight forwarders have been advised to check the applicable surcharge levels and effective dates with Maersk or local agents to assess the impact on freight costs.
