Miami International Airport (MIA) has recorded its sixth consecutive year of cargo growth, underscoring the airport’s role as a leading international freight gateway in the Americas.
Airport authorities reported another annual increase in total freight volumes, driven by strong demand across Latin American, Caribbean, and transatlantic trade lanes. Growth in e-commerce shipments, pharmaceuticals, perishables, and high-value electronics contributed significantly to the sustained upward trend.
MIA’s strategic geographic location, extensive freighter network, and ongoing investments in cargo infrastructure have supported the expansion. The airport continues to enhance warehouse capacity, cold-chain facilities, and digital processing systems to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround times.
Officials noted that partnerships with airlines, freight forwarders, and logistics providers have helped maintain reliable service levels amid evolving global supply chain conditions. Increased belly cargo capacity from passenger routes has also complemented dedicated freighter operations.
With six straight years of cargo growth, Miami International Airport is reinforcing its position as a critical hub for international trade, particularly between North America and Latin America, while positioning itself for further expansion in the years ahead.
