The Government of India is evaluating measures to clear cargo shipments stranded due to disruptions in major trade routes following escalating tensions in West Asia. Officials said authorities are assessing the situation and coordinating with exporters, shipping lines, and logistics providers to ensure that affected consignments reach their destinations.
According to sources, several shipments bound for Gulf and neighboring markets have been delayed or rerouted as carriers adjust operations to avoid conflict-affected areas. The disruptions have led to congestion at some ports and warehouses, leaving export cargo awaiting transportation.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is working with other government agencies and industry bodies to explore solutions such as alternative shipping routes, faster documentation procedures, and improved coordination with transport operators. Officials indicated that policy support may also be considered if the disruptions persist.
Trade experts note that the Middle East remains a crucial market for Indian exports, including food products, engineering goods, textiles, and chemicals. Ensuring the timely movement of cargo is therefore essential to prevent financial losses for exporters and maintain the reliability of India’s trade supply chains.
