COSCO Shipping Lines has resumed accepting bookings for dry containers from shippers in the Gulf region, offering relief to exporters and logistics providers amid ongoing supply chain disruptions.

The move comes as trade flows in the region face uncertainty due to geopolitical tensions and operational constraints affecting key maritime routes. By reopening booking channels, COSCO aims to restore cargo movement and improve service reliability for customers moving goods out of Gulf ports.

Industry sources indicate that the decision will particularly benefit exporters of general cargo, consumer goods, and industrial products, who have been grappling with limited container availability and scheduling disruptions in recent weeks.

The resumption of bookings is expected to ease pressure on freight capacity and help stabilize rates that had surged amid tight supply. Shippers in major Gulf hubs, including ports in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, are likely to see improved access to container space and more predictable sailing schedules.

Market participants note that shipping lines have been cautiously adjusting operations in response to evolving conditions in the region. The reopening of dry container bookings signals a gradual normalization of services, although uncertainties remain.

Logistics experts caution that while the development is positive, challenges such as route diversions, higher insurance costs, and fluctuating demand could continue to impact shipping dynamics in the near term.

The decision by COSCO Shipping Lines is expected to support trade continuity and provide some stability to Gulf exporters navigating a complex and rapidly changing logistics environment.
