The Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has introduced a new policy aimed at developing and operating Bulk Cargo Terminals across its existing facilities, marking a strategic push to strengthen rail-led multimodal logistics in India.

The initiative focuses on optimizing the use of CONCOR’s terminal infrastructure while enabling the seamless movement of bulk commodities such as cement, food grains, chemicals, and steel through rail. Under the policy, industry partners are invited to set up dedicated handling infrastructure—including silos and mechanized loading systems—within CONCOR premises. In turn, CONCOR will facilitate rail transportation and manage terminal operations.

The move is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency by improving turnaround times and lowering overall logistics costs. It also aims to foster long-term partnerships with industrial stakeholders while shifting a greater share of bulk cargo from road to rail.

With this policy, CONCOR takes a practical step toward building a more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable multimodal logistics ecosystem in the country.
