Brussels Airport recorded a 6.2 per cent year-on-year increase in cargo volumes during April 2026, reflecting continued strength in airfreight demand across key international trade routes. The airport handled higher volumes of general cargo, pharmaceuticals, express shipments, and perishables during the month.
Airport officials said growth was supported by stronger freighter activity, expanding e-commerce shipments, and resilient demand from sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, and high-value goods. Brussels Airport continues to serve as a major European air cargo gateway, particularly for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical logistics and express freight operations.
Industry analysts noted that improving global trade flows and stable air cargo demand have supported freight performance at several European airports despite ongoing geopolitical and supply chain uncertainties. Brussels Airport is also continuing investments in cargo infrastructure, digitalisation, and sustainability initiatives to strengthen its position in the European logistics market.
