The use of drones across India’s logistics and clean technology sectors is expected to rise by 55 per cent over the next three years, driven by rapid digitalisation, infrastructure upgrades and growing demand for efficient, sustainable operations, according to a survey by Nexgen Exhibitions Pvt Ltd (NEPL).

The study comes as India’s logistics market, valued at USD 228 billion in 2024, is projected to nearly double to USD 428.7 billion by 2033, highlighting the sector’s strong growth potential.

Based on responses from 1,000 professionals across the drone, logistics, renewable energy and technology sectors in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune, the survey found that drones are increasingly being adopted beyond defence and security applications to support next-generation supply chains and sustainability initiatives.

According to the findings, 38 per cent of respondents identified the combined needs of security and logistics as the key driver of drone adoption, while 27 per cent cited the demand for faster and more sustainable logistics solutions. More than half of those surveyed (54 per cent) believe current industry trends will further accelerate drone deployment across logistics, homeland security and clean technology applications.

“The anticipated 55 per cent surge in drone deployment is a testament to India’s readiness to embrace advanced technology and tackle emerging challenges across logistics, homeland security and sustainability,” said Sangeeta Bansal, Managing Director of NEPL.

The survey underscores the growing convergence of aerial intelligence and sustainability, with drones emerging as a critical tool for improving operational efficiency while reducing environmental and operational costs.

NEPL is set to showcase developments in the sector at the 11th International Police Expo and the 7th Drone International Expo, scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on June 24-25, bringing together more than 200 companies from over 25 countries.
