Amazon Global Selling, the e-commerce giant’s export platform for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), is teaming up with the Ministry of Commerce and Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) to enhance sales from districts with promising export potential.

Bhupen Wakankar, Director of Global Trade, Amazon India, emphasised the significance of forming partnerships across various levels over the past two years, reported businessline.

He stated, “What we have done over the last two years is specifically start forming partnerships at all levels.”

The collaboration extends to both central and state governments, trade bodies, export promotion councils, and industry organisations like CII, FICCI & FISME.

Additionally, Amazon is working with logistics, service providers, banks, and venture capitalists for funding support.

Recently, Amazon India inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the commerce ministry to intensify involvement in the top 75 districts, contributing to 80 per cent of its exports.

Engagement with DGFT, which boasts local export promotion council tie-ups and on-the-ground presence, is a pivotal aspect of their strategy.

The aim is to raise awareness and educate on e-commerce exports, focusing on district-level outreach.

With over 1.25 lakh exporters on its platform, Amazon Global Selling has achieved over USD 8 billion in revenue since its 2015 launch and is on track to meet its USD 20 billion target by 2025.

Exporters benefit from access to over 200 countries through Amazon’s 18 international websites.
