The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has reported a 3.5% increase in air freight movement, reflecting steady growth in cargo operations across the country’s airports. This growth underscores rising demand for air cargo services, driven by both domestic and international trade.

AAI data indicates that key airports handling major cargo volumes, including Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai, contributed significantly to the overall increase. The growth trend highlights resilience in the air logistics sector amid global supply chain uncertainties and evolving trade dynamics.

Industry observers noted that sectors such as pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and perishable goods continue to be major contributors to rising air freight volumes. AAI officials also emphasized ongoing infrastructure upgrades and modernization efforts at airports, aimed at improving cargo handling efficiency and supporting faster turnaround times for exporters and importers.

With steady growth in air cargo movement, India’s aviation and logistics sectors are expected to benefit from increased efficiency, enhanced connectivity, and greater integration with global supply chains.
