India’s engineering goods exports registered a 10.4% year-on-year growth in January, pushing cumulative outbound shipments past the $100 billion mark in FY26, according to data released by EEPC India.
The steady expansion reflects resilient global demand for Indian engineering products, including machinery, transport equipment, industrial components, and electrical goods. Industry officials attributed the growth to improved order flows from key markets such as the United States, Europe and parts of West Asia, alongside a gradual stabilisation in global supply chains.
With the January performance, total engineering exports in the current financial year crossed the $100 billion milestone, underscoring the sector’s critical contribution to India’s overall merchandise exports basket. The engineering segment continues to account for a significant share of the country’s total outbound trade.
EEPC India noted that product categories such as automobiles and auto components, iron and steel products, industrial machinery and electrical equipment recorded healthy growth during the month. Exporters have also benefited from diversified market outreach and participation in international trade fairs.
However, the council cautioned that geopolitical tensions, freight volatility and fluctuating commodity prices remain potential headwinds. It emphasised the need for supportive trade policies, improved logistics infrastructure and timely credit access to sustain export momentum in the coming quarters.
Industry stakeholders remain optimistic that with consistent demand recovery in major economies and continued competitiveness of Indian manufacturers, engineering exports will maintain a steady growth trajectory through the remainder of FY26.
