Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has inaugurated the Induction Training Programme for the first batch of officers from all Major Ports in India, marking a significant step towards fostering professional development and capacity building in the port sector.
The programme was inaugurated in the august presence of Shri T. K. Ramachandran, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW); Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Joint Secretary, MoPSW; and Shri Vikas Narwal, IAS, Managing Director, Indian Ports Association (IPA).
Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Chairperson, JNPA & CMD, VPPL, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and highlighted the importance of the initiative in building a strong talent pool across India’s major ports.
The two-week training programme will see active participation from officials representing all major ports of the country, providing them with a platform for knowledge sharing, leadership development, and exposure to best practices in the maritime and logistics sector.
As part of the inaugural session, participating officers had an interactive session with the Secretary, MoPSW, where they exchanged insights, shared experiences, and expressed their enthusiasm for the training programme.
The initiative underscores the Ministry’s vision to strengthen human capital in the port sector, aligning with India’s broader goals of efficiency, innovation, and global competitiveness in maritime trade.
