Johor Port has introduced designated safety corridors across its operational areas to improve the safe movement of vehicles, workers and cargo handling equipment within the port premises.
The initiative is part of the port’s broader effort to strengthen operational safety standards and minimize the risk of accidents in high-traffic zones. Clearly marked routes have been established to guide trucks, port machinery and personnel through specific pathways, reducing the chances of congestion and unsafe cross-movement.
Port authorities said the new corridors will help streamline internal traffic flow while ensuring that port users adhere to standardized safety practices. The routes are supported by improved signage, road markings and awareness programs to help drivers and workers familiarize themselves with the new system.
The measure is particularly important in busy cargo areas where container trucks, forklifts and other heavy equipment operate simultaneously. By separating pedestrian movement from vehicle traffic and assigning designated lanes, the port aims to create a safer working environment.
Officials noted that the rollout forms part of Johor Port’s ongoing safety management strategy, which focuses on enhancing workplace safety, improving operational efficiency and ensuring compliance with international port safety standards.
With cargo throughput and port activity continuing to grow, Johor Port said initiatives such as designated safety corridors will play a key role in maintaining smooth operations while protecting workers and port users.
