DTDC Express Limited has partnered with Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to strengthen parcel and cargo connectivity across Himachal Pradesh, leveraging the state transporter’s extensive bus network to improve last-mile delivery.
Under the collaboration, DTDC will utilise available cargo space in HRTC buses operating on key intra-state and inter-district routes to move parcels more efficiently, particularly to remote and hilly regions where logistics access remains challenging.
Company officials said the initiative is aimed at reducing transit times, lowering transportation costs and expanding delivery reach to underserved areas. The tie-up is expected to benefit local businesses, small traders and e-commerce customers by ensuring faster and more reliable shipment movement.
HRTC, which operates one of the largest road networks in the hill state, will integrate parcel handling protocols at designated bus depots. Dedicated booking and tracking mechanisms are also being introduced to streamline operations and ensure shipment visibility.
Industry observers noted that such public-private partnerships can play a crucial role in enhancing logistics infrastructure in geographically difficult terrains like Himachal Pradesh, where traditional freight movement often faces weather and connectivity constraints.
The collaboration aligns with broader efforts to improve regional supply chains and support economic activity in smaller towns and rural areas by strengthening access to national markets.
