Maersk has launched its new FI2 ocean service to strengthen maritime connectivity between India and China, aiming to support growing trade volumes and improve supply chain efficiency across Asia.

The newly introduced service is designed to provide more direct and reliable connections between key ports in India and China, offering customers improved transit times and enhanced schedule reliability. The FI2 route forms part of the company’s broader strategy to expand intra-Asia shipping solutions amid rising regional trade demand.

According to the company, the service will cater to a wide range of cargo segments, including manufacturing goods, electronics, chemicals, textiles and industrial products moving between the two major Asian economies. The route is also expected to support exporters seeking faster access to regional markets and integrated logistics solutions.

Industry observers noted that trade activity between India and China continues to remain significant despite geopolitical and tariff-related challenges. Shipping lines are increasingly enhancing regional service networks to capture growing cargo flows linked to manufacturing diversification and supply chain realignment across Asia.

The FI2 service is expected to provide additional capacity and flexibility for shippers while strengthening port connectivity within Maersk’s regional network. The launch also reflects continued investment by global carriers in Asia-focused trade lanes, where demand for reliable short-sea and feeder services has been rising steadily.
