The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is set to embark on a strategic roadshow across India from November 18 to 22, with stops in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. This initiative aims to strengthen the port’s relationship with one of its fastest-growing trading partners and the world’s most rapidly expanding economy. Accompanied by a delegation of seven prominent companies from the Antwerp-Bruges port community, the roadshow highlights
the significant interest and commitment the port has towards deepening its ties with the Indian market.
Led by Vice President Luc Arnouts and organized in collaboration with Flanders Investment & Trade, the delegation will engage in high-level discussions and site visits with Indian industry leaders. The roadshow will feature exclusive B2B meetings, networking events, and interactive sessions in collaboration with local chambers of commerce to foster meaningful partnerships and explore collaborative opportunities in key sectors for both regions.
India’s Strategic Role for Port of Antwerp-Bruges
As one of Europe’s largest ports, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges views India as a pivotal trading partner. With India’s export volumes through the port increasing by over 10% this year alone, the country is positioned as a critical partner in global trade diversification. India’s commitment to renewable energy and green initiatives aligns well with the port’s goals for sustainable energy transition, making this roadshow an opportunity to strengthen
relationships with Indian energy giants and advance collaboration on green energy exports to Europe.
The Port of Antwerp-Bruges has cultivated deep ties with India since establishing a representation office in Mumbai in 2006. These ties include the founding of a specialized training center at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPT) in Mumbai through the JNPT-Antwerp Port Training and Consultancy Foundation. Operated by the Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center (APEC), the facility offers expert training in port management, logistics, and strategy. Additionally, Port of Antwerp-Bruges International collaborates with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways and organizations such as the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Kolkata, and the Haldia Dock Complex . Together, these partnerships support India’s maritime targets outlined in the Maritime Vision 2030-2047.
**A Diverse Delegation of Industry Leaders**
Representing a cross-section of specialized expertise, the roadshow delegation includes Boeckmans Belgium, Blackstone Shipping Belgium, Euroports, Katoen Natie Terminals, PSA Breakbulk, Steelduxx, and C. Steinweg. Together, these companies bring a wide range of capabilities, from heavy industry to specialized cargo solutions, reinforcing the port’s reputation as a dynamic hub for global trade and innovation.
This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the Antwerp-Bruges port community to build enduring economic partnerships between Belgium and India, positioning the port as a cornerstone of connectivity and sustainable growth.
