Qatar’s commercial ports recorded a strong performance in June 2026, with container traffic rising 13 percent month-on-month as increased vessel arrivals reflected the country’s expanding role as a regional logistics and trade hub.

According to Mwani Qatar’s June Ports Performance Report, the country’s three commercial ports handled 78,002 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the month. The ports also welcomed 121 vessels, representing a 21 percent increase compared with May.

The latest figures highlight the resilience of Qatar’s maritime and logistics sector as the country continues to invest in world-class transport infrastructure under its National Vision 2030, strengthening its position as a key gateway for regional and international trade.

In addition to container traffic, Qatar’s ports handled nearly 23,000 tonnes of general cargo during June, while bulk cargo volumes exceeded 67,000 tonnes, marking a significant 40 percent increase over the previous month, according to Mwani Qatar.

The state-owned ports operator also released cumulative performance figures for the first half of 2026, reporting that the country’s ports processed more than 493,105 TEUs and approximately 273,325 tonnes of general cargo between January and June.

During the same period, the ports handled over 325,000 tonnes of bulk cargo, around 25,000 roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) units, and more than 112,000 head of livestock across 866 vessel calls.

Mwani Qatar operates the country’s three commercial ports—Hamad Port, Doha Port and Al-Ruwais Port—and plays a critical role in supporting Qatar’s supply chains, facilitating international trade and advancing the nation’s logistics ambitions.

The latest growth comes at a time when shipping routes across the Gulf continue to be closely monitored following recent regional geopolitical tensions. Despite the challenges, Qatar’s port infrastructure has continued to ensure the uninterrupted movement of cargo and essential goods.

The strong June performance also builds on an impressive 2025, during which Qatar’s ports handled more than 3,000 vessels, nearly 1.46 million TEUs, approximately 1.85 million tonnes of general cargo, and over 122,000 Ro-Ro units, underscoring the sector’s growing contribution to the country’s trade and economic diversification efforts.
