The United States remained India’s largest supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in June, with imports rising as the country continued to meet growing domestic demand across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The increase in shipments underscores the strengthening energy trade relationship between the two countries and highlights the U.S.’s role as a key source of LPG for the Indian market.

Higher imports were driven by competitive U.S. export prices, abundant supply from American production hubs, and sustained demand from Indian oil marketing companies. The availability of large export volumes and reliable shipping connections has enabled the U.S. to maintain its leading position among India’s LPG suppliers.

India, one of the world’s largest LPG consumers, relies significantly on imports to bridge the gap between domestic production and consumption. Rising demand for clean cooking fuel, expanding household coverage, and industrial requirements continue to support steady import growth.

Market participants expect the U.S. to remain a major LPG supplier to India in the coming months, supported by strong export capacity and long-term trade ties. At the same time, India is expected to continue diversifying its sourcing strategy by procuring cargoes from the Middle East and other producing regions to enhance energy security and ensure stable supplies.
