V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port Authority, Tuticorin, has announced the launch of a new Facilitation Desk in Coimbatore aimed at strengthening support for traders and industries in the region. The initiative, unveiled during a trade meet hosted in collaboration with Dakshin Bharat Container Terminal (DBGT), Tuticorin International Container Terminal (TICT), and the EXIM trade community, is expected to ease operations and reduce logistics costs for businesses.

As part of the announcement, VOC Port will extend a 50% rebate on Vessel Related Charges (VRC) for coastal imports from Kandla and provide extended free storage for coastal containers, aligning with government measures to promote coastal shipping and trade competitiveness.

Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson of VOC Port, said: “We are launching this desk to streamline operations and reduce costs for traders. This step will not only strengthen our presence in Coimbatore but also reinforce Tuticorin’s role as a key maritime hub for southern India.”

The trade meet drew around 100 representatives from trade associations and industry, where VOC Port also highlighted recent infrastructure upgrades, including three new berths—such as the NCB-3 inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July 2025—and enhanced container handling capacity. The port’s two container terminals, DBGT and TICT, together handle over 1 million TEUs annually and accommodate large vessels up to 8,000 TEUs.

With the new Facilitation Desk and incentives, VOC Port is positioning itself as a cost-efficient and business-friendly gateway for industries in Tamil Nadu and beyond.
