Lower container volumes and a flat growth in dry bulk volumes caused a 4.8 percent year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit for Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd during the first quarter of financial year 2025-26.

The net profit for the company — that operates Pipavav port in Gujarat — fell to ₹104 crore from the ₹109 crore recorded during the same period last fiscal.

Even as container volumes handled by the port declined by almost one percent to 164000 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit) during this three-month period, the company’s revenue from operations during the first quarter rose by 1.6 percent to ₹250 crore.

The containers shipped through trains by the port during the first quarter also fell to 99000 TEUs from the 102000 TEUs a year ago.

The port handled 447 container trains during the quarter, a yoy decline of seven percent. The RO-RO cargo handled by the port during this period rose by 10.5 percent to 42000 units, compared to the 38000 units a year ago.

The liquid cargo volumes rose by 20 percent to 0.41 million tonnes during the same period. However, the dry bulk cargo remained flat at 0.55 million tonnes.
