WEC Lines has launched its new Ebro Rail service, expanding its intermodal logistics network and strengthening inland cargo connectivity across key European trade corridors.

The Ebro Rail solution is designed to integrate rail and maritime transport services, providing customers with more efficient and sustainable freight movement options. Industry sources said the service will improve cargo distribution between inland logistics hubs and seaports while helping reduce dependence on road transport.

The launch reflects growing demand for multimodal transport solutions as logistics providers seek to improve supply chain resilience, lower emissions and optimise cargo transit efficiency. Rail-based freight services are increasingly being promoted across Europe as part of broader sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives in the transport sector.

WEC Lines said the Ebro Rail service will support smoother cargo flows, enhance schedule reliability and provide greater flexibility for importers and exporters moving goods across regional markets. The service is also expected to strengthen links between industrial centres and major maritime gateways.

Industry analysts noted that integrated rail-sea logistics solutions are becoming increasingly important as supply chains adapt to evolving environmental regulations, rising transport costs and growing pressure for greener freight operations.
