The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has welcomed Freightos as the latest signatory to its Digitalization Leadership Charter, reinforcing industry efforts to accelerate the digital transformation of global air cargo operations.

By joining the initiative, Freightos has committed to supporting industry-wide adoption of digital standards, enhanced data sharing and greater interoperability across the air cargo supply chain. The move is aimed at improving connectivity among airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, shippers and other stakeholders, helping create a more efficient and transparent cargo ecosystem.

The IATA Digitalization Leadership Charter was launched to encourage companies across the air cargo sector to embrace modern digital processes and standards that can replace paper-based workflows, streamline communications and improve operational visibility. The initiative aligns with broader industry goals to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and strengthen supply chain resilience.

Freightos, which operates digital booking and rate management platforms for international freight services, said participation in the charter reflects its commitment to advancing seamless cargo data exchange and accelerating digital adoption across the logistics industry. The company has been actively involved in promoting real-time pricing, online booking capabilities and digital connectivity between carriers and freight forwarders.

IATA noted that stronger collaboration between technology providers and cargo stakeholders is essential as the industry seeks to modernize operations and meet growing customer expectations for speed, transparency and reliability. Digitalization is increasingly viewed as a critical enabler of efficient cargo movement, particularly as global trade volumes continue to expand.

Industry leaders believe initiatives such as the Digitalization Leadership Charter will help standardize processes, improve shipment visibility and facilitate faster decision-making throughout the supply chain. Enhanced digital connectivity is also expected to support sustainability efforts by reducing paperwork and optimizing cargo operations.

With Freightos joining the charter, IATA continues to expand the network of organizations committed to advancing digital innovation in air cargo, supporting the industry’s transition toward more connected, data-driven and customer-focused logistics operations.
