In a significant milestone for India–UK trade relations, the first export container consignment destined for the United Kingdom was flagged off from CONCOR Inland Container Depot (ICD), Kanakpura, Jaipur, following the implementation of the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
The inaugural shipment marks the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral trade, enabling Indian exporters to benefit from preferential market access under the landmark trade agreement. With duty-free access for the vast majority of Indian exports to the UK, CETA is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Indian products, create new export opportunities, and boost economic growth.
The successful dispatch of the first export consignment reflects the close coordination among Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), Indian Railways, Customs authorities, Export Promotion Council representatives, shipping lines, and trade and industry partners, ensuring a seamless logistics chain for exporters.
The initiative also highlights the growing importance of multimodal logistics infrastructure in supporting India’s export ambitions. CONCOR’s ICD Kanakpura is expected to play a key role in facilitating efficient containerized cargo movement from Rajasthan and neighbouring regions to international markets.
Speaking on the occasion, CONCOR reaffirmed its commitment to providing world-class multimodal logistics solutions, efficient EXIM services, and seamless container transportation to strengthen India’s export ecosystem. The organization said it remains focused on supporting the Government of India’s vision of Viksit Bharat by enhancing connectivity, improving trade facilitation, and strengthening India’s position in global commerce.
The flag-off of the first UK-bound export container under the India–UK CETA underscores the transformative potential of the agreement and reinforces the role of integrated logistics and supply chain infrastructure in driving India’s global trade competitiveness.
