Enhancing India’s port-led logistics ecosystem, Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL) for the development of a Container Freight Station (CFS) near Vizhinjam International Seaport. The MoU was formalised on 23rd February 2026 at Thiruvananthapuram, marking a significant step toward strengthening multimodal logistics infrastructure in Kerala.

The agreement was signed in the august presence of Pinarayi Vijayan, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala; V. N. Vasavan, Hon’ble Minister for Cooperation & Ports, Government of Kerala; Shri Kowsigan (IAS), Secretary – Shipping & Ports, Government of Kerala; Shri Sanjay Swarup, CMD, CONCOR; and Ms G. Gayatri, Area Head (South), CONCOR.

The MoU was signed by Mr. A. Vijuvin, Cluster Head – Chennai, on behalf of CONCOR, and Ms Divya Iyer, Managing Director, VISL, on behalf of VISL.

The proposed CFS is expected to significantly enhance hinterland connectivity to Vizhinjam Port, streamline container handling, and provide seamless end-to-end logistics solutions to trade and industry. By integrating rail-based logistics with port operations, the initiative aims to improve cargo evacuation efficiency, reduce transit time, and support the growth of EXIM and coastal trade in the region.

This collaboration underscores the shared commitment of CONCOR and VISL to position Vizhinjam as a major transshipment and gateway port, while advancing Kerala’s vision of a robust, future-ready, port-led logistics ecosystem.
