Vale has formally commended the Synergy-managed very large ore carrier (VLOC) MV BAO MIN for its professionalism, safety standards and cooperative approach during a recent loading operation at the Ponta da Madeira terminal in Brazil, one of the world’s largest iron ore export hubs.
Built in 2010 and managed by Synergy, BAO MIN successfully completed loading at the terminal without delay, concluding operations on schedule on New Year’s Eve as the final vessel to load at Ponta da Madeira in 2025. The terminal team highlighted the vessel’s safe execution, clear communication and effective coordination between ship and shore personnel throughout the port call.
Ponta da Madeira handled 633 vessels during 2025, underscoring the scale and operational intensity of the terminal. Against this backdrop, MV BAO MIN has built a strong track record at the facility, having completed 23 successful loadings over time and shipping approximately 6.7 million tonnes of iron ore on long-haul trades where operational discipline and consistency are critical.
Vale’s appreciation reflects the performance of the vessel’s crew, led by Captain Chandravir S. Ranawat and Chief Engineer Sumit Kumar Malhotra, as well as the wider ship staff. Recognition was also extended to Synergy Onyx’s shore-based teams in Pune for their support, and to the Vale terminal team for their close collaboration.
Acknowledgements of this nature highlight the importance of uniform standards, teamwork and clear communication in high-volume, high-consequence port operations. Both vessel and terminal teams expressed their commitment to continued cooperation in support of safe, efficient and responsible global iron ore trade in 2026.
