New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has been awarded the Sagar Ankalan Certificate for Logistics Port Performance, securing second rank among Indian ports handling less than 0.5 million TEUs of container cargo during the financial year 2024–25.

The recognition was presented by Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, at the 37th Foundation Day celebrations of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority.

The award was received on behalf of NMPA by S. Shanthi. The honour acknowledges the port’s strong performance in container cargo handling, operational efficiency, and overall logistics performance during the assessment period.

The Sagar Ankalan framework evaluates Indian ports on various operational and logistics parameters, including cargo handling efficiency, turnaround times, infrastructure utilisation, and service quality. NMPA’s ranking highlights its continued efforts to enhance productivity and strengthen its position as a key maritime gateway on India’s west coast.

NMPA said the achievement reflects the collective commitment of its workforce and stakeholders towards delivering efficient, customer-focused, and reliable port services. The port has been pursuing initiatives aimed at improving operational performance, facilitating trade, and supporting the growth of maritime logistics in the region.

The recognition is expected to further reinforce NMPA’s reputation as an emerging container-handling hub and underline its contribution to improving India’s port-led logistics ecosystem.
