The Pangaon Inland Container Terminal (PICT) at West Keraniganj, Dhaka district, officially began operations on Saturday under the management of MEDLOG Bangladesh Private Ltd, a subsidiary of Switzerland-based inland logistics leader MEDLOG.

The inauguration took place at the terminal premises, a strategically located facility aimed at enhancing inland container movement and strengthening multimodal connectivity near the capital.

The terminal will be operated, managed, and modernized by MEDLOG Bangladesh under a 22-year concession agreement signed with the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) two months ago.

Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain, Shipping Adviser, attended the event as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included Dr Nurun Nahar Chowdhury, Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, and Rear Admiral M Moniruzzaman, Chairman of the CPA.

ATM Anisul Millat, Managing Director of MEDLOG Bangladesh, delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the company’s vision and operational roadmap for the terminal.

The government handed over the terminal’s operation to MEDLOG after years of sustained losses. Built at a cost of around Tk 155 crore, PICT had struggled with operational inefficiencies over the past decade. The concession agreement is expected to introduce global best practices, advanced technology, and efficient management, reversing losses and generating significant revenue for the government.
