The United Arab Emirates has directed ADNOC to double crude export capacity at Fujairah by 2027 as part of broader efforts to strengthen energy export infrastructure and enhance supply flexibility through the planned West-East pipeline expansion.

Industry sources said the project is aimed at increasing the UAE’s ability to move crude oil exports through Fujairah on the Gulf of Oman, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz and improving resilience against potential geopolitical disruptions in the region.

The planned expansion will support higher storage and export handling capabilities at Fujairah, one of the world’s major oil storage and bunkering hubs. ADNOC is expected to integrate the enhanced infrastructure with the new West-East pipeline system scheduled to begin operations in 2027.

Energy analysts noted that the move reflects the UAE’s long-term strategy to strengthen energy security, diversify export routes, and reinforce its position as a reliable global crude supplier amid evolving geopolitical and shipping risks in the Gulf region.
