The proposed Vadhvan Port project has set compensation rates at over ₹2 crore per hectare for agricultural land in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, marking a significant step in advancing land acquisition for the mega port development.

Officials stated that the compensation package aims to ensure fair remuneration for affected landowners while facilitating timely project execution. The revised rates are expected to address concerns raised by local farmers and stakeholders regarding land valuation and rehabilitation.

The Vadhvan Port project is envisioned as a major deep-sea port that will enhance India’s maritime capacity, support growing container traffic, and strengthen trade connectivity. Once operational, it is expected to generate employment opportunities and boost economic development in the region.

Authorities have indicated that alongside compensation, rehabilitation and resettlement measures will be implemented to support affected families and ensure a balanced approach to infrastructure expansion.
