V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) has reported a significant rise in pulses imports, registering a 20.77% year-on-year increase in FY 2025–26 compared to the previous fiscal year. The sharp uptick reflects the Port’s strengthening position as a critical gateway for India’s agricultural and food commodity supply chains.

The growth comes at a time when India’s demand for essential food products continues to rise, and ports are under pressure to ensure timely, efficient cargo movement. VOC Port has attributed the surge to its robust cargo-handling infrastructure, streamlined customs and clearance procedures, and dedicated systems for managing agri-commodities.

Officials noted that the Port’s focused approach to operational efficiency has significantly improved turnaround times, making it a preferred hub for importers handling bulk food cargo.

With ongoing upgrades across its terminals and logistics ecosystem, VOC Port reiterated its commitment to supporting smoother, faster, and more resilient trade flows. The Port Authority said it will continue to enhance capacity and strengthen supply chain reliability to meet India’s growing agri-trade requirements.
