Yang Ming Marine Transport has expanded its fleet with the delivery of YM Wayfinder, the third in a series of 15,500 TEU-class LNG dual-fuel container vessels being built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The new vessel measures nearly 365 metres in length and has a carrying capacity of approximately 15,600 TEU. It is powered by dual-fuel engines capable of operating on both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and low-sulphur fuel oil, offering greater operational flexibility while supporting lower emissions.
According to the company, operating on LNG can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 20% compared with conventional fuel oil, contributing to Yang Ming’s efforts to improve the environmental performance of its fleet.
YM Wayfinder is scheduled to join the Asia–North Europe FE3 service from 1 July, strengthening the carrier’s capacity on one of the world’s busiest trade lanes.
The delivery reflects the container shipping industry’s continued investment in next-generation, fuel-efficient vessels as carriers modernise fleets to meet evolving environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
