APM Terminals Japan has signed an agreement aimed at decarbonising port operations in Yokohama, reinforcing efforts to reduce emissions and advance sustainable terminal infrastructure.

The agreement focuses on accelerating the transition toward cleaner energy use, lower-carbon cargo handling operations and environmentally sustainable logistics practices at Yokohama port facilities.

Under the initiative, APM Terminals Japan will work with local stakeholders and industry partners on measures including energy efficiency improvements, electrification of equipment and adoption of greener operational technologies.

The move aligns with broader maritime industry goals to cut greenhouse gas emissions and support Japan’s long-term carbon neutrality targets across transport and logistics sectors.

Ports and terminal operators worldwide are increasingly investing in decarbonisation projects, renewable energy integration and low-emission infrastructure as global shipping faces mounting environmental regulations and sustainability demands.
