The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first-ever sea shipment of botanical-infused ready-to-cook millet functional foods from India to New Zealand, marking a significant milestone in the country’s value-added agri-food export sector.
The inaugural consignment, comprising one metric tonne of millet-based products, was exported by Bengaluru-based Infini Agrotek LLP on June 3, 2026. The shipment highlights the growing international demand for innovative millet-based food products and reinforces India’s position as a leading supplier of nutritious, climate-resilient grains.
The export order was secured following the company’s participation in APEDA-supported trade promotion events, including World Food India 2025, Indus Food 2025 and Gulfood 2026. These platforms enabled the exporter to engage with international buyers, expand market outreach and strengthen its global presence.
The shipment was virtually flagged off by APEDA Chairman Shri Abhishek Dev, IAS, who commended the company for developing innovative millet products and successfully penetrating overseas markets. He also encouraged the exporter to continue leveraging APEDA’s export promotion initiatives and participation in international trade fairs to explore new business opportunities.
The development is expected to create enhanced demand for millet cultivation, benefiting farmers through improved market access and strengthening the entire millet value chain. It also reflects the increasing global acceptance of India’s value-added agricultural products.
APEDA said it remains committed to promoting agricultural and processed food exports through market development programmes, capacity-building initiatives and participation in major domestic and international trade exhibitions. The successful shipment underscores the growing export potential of India’s millet sector and supports the diversification of the country’s agri-export basket.
